I am pleased and proud to be quoted in an article in MDDI as a digital health expert on wearables, robotics, telehealth and 5G in Medtech Trends to Watch in 2020. Click here to read the article.
There is already so much data showing patient benefits of reduced cost, weight and improvements in quality of life. All this spells opportunity for the medical device industry. We must focus data insights to understand digital health trends, predict outcomes and inform health actions.
For example, a 2018 study[i] (n=501) demonstrated lasting engagement and improvements in health, weight, and QOL for patients with diabetes using a combination of digital health with human coaching to reduce chronic disease risk among older adults. At 1 year, participants lost 7.5% of initial body weight; among participants with clinical data, HbA1c improved (−0.14%, p = .001) total cholesterol decreased (−7.08 mg/dL, p = .008). Self-reported well-being, depression, and self-care improved (p < .0001).
