Medical Device Executive Women – Working Hard for Advancement: Ready to Push Hard and Play Rough

By comparing a survey of medtech executive women with findings from the EDGE[1] study; The Progress of Women Executives in Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology: A Leadership Benchmarking Study, we see a direct correlation with the advancement potential for women employed in the life medtech and pharma industries. Based on data from the survey (n=24), in the medtech industry:

  • Executive women do not believe they are paid at the same level as their male peers
  • Medtech women do not believe they have the same potential for advancement
  • Fewer than 10-20% of their medical device company peers are women
  • The medtech culture does not allow executive women flexibility for family caregiver time without bias or stigma
